Bio
Mrs. Barna Rani Jamatia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kokborok at Saint Paul’s College, A.D. Nagar, Agartala. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Union Christian College, NEHU, a Diploma in Kokborok, and double master’s degrees in Political Science and Kokborok, with a specialisation in folklore literature, from Tripura University.
She formerly worked as Kokborok Guest Faculty at Maharaja Bir Bikram College and has fourteen years of teaching experience. She has published research on Kokborok folk narratives, Tripuri identity, traditional handicrafts, drama, and oral traditions.
She translated CBSE Class X Mathematics and Science textbooks into Kokborok under a Tripura University project, and prepared the first draft of the undergraduate Kokborok syllabus under NEP 2020 for the first to sixth semesters. She has also taught an online Kokborok course for government officers, conducted by the Directorate of Kokborok and Other Minority Languages.
